MAKE ME UP A STAR

MAKE ME UP A STAR

The painted faces of Apocalypto, with their amazing wigs and their teeth plated with semi-precious stones; the severe bust of actor Toni Servillo transformed into "Divo Giulio;" and the Belle Epoque tresses and come-hither look of Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge: the exhibition and event created and produced by Elisabetta Cantone and Francesca Silvestra is a tribute to the Italian film industry's great makeup artists. They include Vittorio Sodano (David di Donatello for Il Divo), Maurizio Silvi (BAFTA for Moulin Rouge), Fabrizio Sforza (BAFTA forThe English Patient) , Aldo Signoretti (BAFTA for Gangs of New York), and Francesco Freda, makeup master to Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni. From March 3 to March 7, the Jeanie Madsen Gallery will host reconstructions of the sets of world-famous films, equipped with videos and images seen here for the first time, where visitors will learn how a "movie character" is created.
